We are strongly opposed to the building of a warehouse at the corner of Bear Road and N. Susquehanna Trail. We are unified in defeating this project.

I travel Susquehanna Trail and Bear Rd. every day to and from work. Although I live in W. York Borough I pick that route because of it's beauty in each season. With all the empty warehouse space sitting all over York county I would certainly think that they could make use of existing space. I feel the area is a beautiful area full of wildlife. Where and when are we going to draw the line to BIG business coming in and just taking over our neighborhoods? They are kind of like politicians, they make all kinds of promises and don't keep a single one. Why not create jobs in an existing building and save yourself some money?
ReplyDeleteThe area is congested enough as it is and traffic is always speeding on Bear Rd. This would only add to the problems that already exist for the people living in this proposed area.

ReplyDeleteSome is available a short distance from the proposed site over on the corner of Willow Springs Lane and Board Road.I also don't see Bear Rd as being able to handle the truck traffic. And can anyone say " Yeah, time for another stinkin' Traffic Light" also.
And like the previous poster, I don't live real close to the site, but travel through the area everyday to and from work.
I found out about this from the big sign in a yard right up the Trail from the intersection.

Unable to attend this meeting but thought of the following. There is land available on Board Rd. directly across from May Rd. (about 1/2 mile past York Barbell). The existing farmland has been zoned industrial and the plans supposedly are to add a traffic light at the intersection. Seems a much larger space than on Bear Rd. and the access to Board Rd. and Rt. 83 is much better than Bear Rd.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever thought that the people who live on Board Rd. and the area do not want another warehouse in that area. Traffic there is already real bad. Add more truck traffic, and that would make living there and commuting there or through that area impossible. No super warehouse is needed anywhere in this area. How about Perry County, they only have one signal light in the whole county. We have enough.
ReplyDeleteNo disagreement on the Board Rd. comment. However, this area is certainly better suited to additional building and traffice than Bear Rd. In fact, some improvements have already been made in terms of traffic lights, widened roads at Willow Springs and Church, etc.
ReplyDeleteYes, another warehouse seems unnecessary but new warehouse designs that are almost fully automated are the direction things are going. Using exisitng warehouses for these types of systems is not possible. Maybe the unusable ones should be torn down and green space made from those locations. Probably would end up wiht more net green areas and less warehousing and traffic given these newer warehouse need fewer employees meaning less commuter traffic.
We could not attend the meeting but we are completely opposed to the building of that warehouse. We would like to know were can we get some signs.

"Another warehouse just what we need, more lost truck drivers holding up traffic, tearing up yards. I live on butter rd.I've seen trucks wandering around looking for ES3 and other new warehouse locations in the area. this is a beutiful place to live without the broken treeline, heavy truck traffic, more dangerous intersections"
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the importance of agricultural land? Does anybody realize the food in the grocery stores all comes from a farm? Doesn't anybody want local food? We are already dependant on the middle east for fuel for our transportation, next we will depend on them for our food supply. I'm guessing they will take good care of us. What about the wildlife. Where should they live. I believe there is a balance in nature that is being upset. This warehouse idea should not be approved!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand how a new warehouse would be going up when there is so much supply in Manchestor Township. I drive by Board Road and Willow Springs and noticed this huge warehouse still sitting pretty much empty.
ReplyDeleteI would understand if there was some new manufacturer moving in supplying jobs, but this is ridiculous.

I travel Bear Rd. regularly and another big ugly warehouse is not what this area is in need of. What will happen to the wildlife which calls this area home, like the deer that I have seen feeding in the fields along the roadside? Please voice your opinions at the board meeting to prevent the construction. Board Rd. can not handle the truck traffic that this construction would bring in.

WE LIVE ON THE SUSQUEHANNA TRL AND ARE VERY AWARE OF THE TRUCK TRAFFIC NOW. WE CAN'T IMAGINE THE UNNESSARY AND UNSAFE TRAFFIC THAT WILL BE ADDED IF THE WAREHOUSE IS PERMITTED. DID ANYONE ON THE TOWNSHIP OFFER THIS COMPANY ANY SUGGESTIONS TO USE EMPTY EXISTING BUILDINGS?

As a truck driver I am saying it will be a very big mistake to allow that whse to be built here. truck traffic is no joke and would be extremely unnecessary, unsafe, disturbing and simply unbelievable if allowed to be built.
